Based out of France, Oleon converts natural fats and oils into a wide range of oleochemical products.
Full Description
Oleon is one of the leading producers of oleochemicals. We are specialized in converting natural fats and oils into a wide range of oleochemical products. Originally part of Petrofina but divested in 2000 when Fina, Total and Elf merged. January 2009 Oleon was integrated in the French group Avril, a strong financial and industrial organization in the vegetable oils and proteins sector with a turnover of EUR 6 billion and 7200 employees. The head office of Oleon is located in Ertvelde near Ghent (Belgium). We have two production sites in Belgium, one in Germany, one in France, two in Malaysia and are starting the construction of a chemical production facility in the Houston area.
Technology
Our key technology is the chemistry of natural fats and oils and their derivatives, such as fatty acids, glycerine, esters, dimers, technical oils, specialty oleochemicals and biodiesel. In the Houston facility we will mainly produce drilling lubricants, emulsifiers, demulsifiers, rheology modifiers and specialty chemicals for the Oil and Gas industry.
